Terra mhi430 - Triple HDMI to IP Encoder

TERRA mhi430 is a multifunctional device that encodes 3xHDMI HD signals to 3xIP H264 streams.

The high-definition (HD) signals could be provided to the HDMI inputs from different sources (eg. media players, Blu-rays players, PCs, STB decoders, etc.) and the signal can be up to 1920x1080/60p.

The encoder has three HDMI inputs, one RJ-45 output (SPTS IP) and one RJ-45 Ethernet control interface. The output can stream three independently configured multimedia streams (H.264 and MPEG-1 Layer II/ AAC encoding) with individual multicast addresses, using UDP/RTP (multicast) or SAP/SDP protocols. The output IP signal of the encoder may be applied to an Ethernet switch to split it among multiple receivers deployed in the wired Ethernet network. The bitrate of the compressed signal at the output of the encoder is limited to 11 Mbps. The IP streaming can be properly decoded by desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, or by dedicated IPTV receivers, e.g. Terra hd-442.

One of the main advantages of the Terra IPTV solution is no need for any middleware software between the headend and the receivers. As a result, the system is much cheaper (no software license fees) than other solutions and very simple in both configuration and operation. A unique feature of the system is the fact that the terminal units - D0131 VSA N5 WiFi IPTV receivers - do not require any configuration, which can be of great importance in the case of larger networks. They automatically detect any changes in the local network or the programming.

Key Features

  • Conversion of three HDMI signals (up to 1920x1080/60p format) to IP SPTS (Single Program Transport Stream)
  • Conversion of signals (e.g. TV channels) from 3 HDMI sources to 3 IP streams, with H.264 encoding and individual multicast addresses
  • The multimedia IP streams can be watched on PCs/laptops running free VLC software or any other player
  • Unique SAP/SDP protocol enables automatic configuration of HD-442 IPTV receivers
  • Distribution of IP signal within LAN network (via twisted-pair cabling)
  • Easy transmission over long distance via an optical link (with the use of a media converter)
  • IP multicast technology saves network resources

Seamless Integration

The mhi430 IP encoder can integrate seamlessly with:

  • media converters that allow for transmission of the IP signal via optical medium

  • IPTV Streamers that enable management and distribution of satellite, terrestrial and cable DVB channels within Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cabling

  • IP (100/1000 Mbps) to 4x DVB-T transmodulator mix-440 that converts IP stream to DVB-T COFDM standard.
